  1. For WordPress themes, I would strongly suggest people take a look at ‘X’ and ‘Pro’ themes by Themeco. Their customer service is very good and they have a really strong community. The theme is flexible enough to take on just about any look. It comes with several high-end plugins. And, their builder, Cornerstone, is top-notch.

    Also, for hosting, I recommend a managed hosting solution like WP Engine unless you have no plans to make money, but have a high-traffic site. It isn’t as cheap as others, but the benefits and capabilities are well worth it.
